First-Half Struggles for Arsenal

Arteta expressed concern regarding Copley’s injury, stating that the mechanism and symptoms did not look positive, and a scan was awaited.
Several key players were unavailable for Arsenal, including Declan Rice, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, and Bukayo Saka, who had not yet rejoined the squad following their World Cup campaign with England. Additionally, Spain’s World Cup winners Mikel Merino, David Raya, and Martin Zubimendi were also yet to return. Captain Martin Odegaard, who featured for Norway in the tournament, has resumed individual training.
The starting lineup against Betis included four international defenders, along with Ethan Nwaneri, Kai Havertz, Christos Tzolis, and Max Dowman in midfield, with Viktor Gyokeres leading the attack. Myles Lewis-Skelly was noted as one of Arsenal’s better performers in midfield.

Arteta acknowledged that losing a football match is always upsetting, but he believes that a defeat in pre-season can create more determination within the squad. He emphasized the importance of addressing the defensive errors, particularly the “sloppy goal” conceded from a corner and the two giveaways near their box.
The manager also spoke about the team’s ambitions for the upcoming season, stating that the aim is to attack every possible title and create a dynasty at the club. He noted that the market is still open for recruitment. When asked about a potential deal for Bruno Guimaraes, Arteta declined to comment on players who are not currently part of Arsenal.
