Burnley is set to commence their league campaign against West Ham United on Sunday, with a 4pm kick-off at Turf Moor. This fixture marks the first time in 14 years that the two clubs will meet in the Championship.
Both clubs share a history, including a claret-and-blue strip and a recent return to the second tier of English football. While West Ham is widely tipped to finish at the top of the division, Burnley, according to one prediction model, is more likely to secure a sixth-place finish. However, Burnley has a track record of achieving automatic promotion, having done so the last four times they were in the Championship.
Matchday Preparations at Turf Moor
Supporters attending the match are encouraged to arrive early to ensure timely entry and to welcome Head Coach Nicky Hayen and the team. The home team bus is expected to arrive at the north-east corner of the stadium, opposite the Fan Zone, and fans are invited to be in place from 2:15pm.
Entry to the turnstiles for both home and visiting supporters will open at 2pm. Due to increased search measures and additional spot checks for safety, fans arriving less than 20 minutes before kick-off are not guaranteed to be in their seats by the start of the match. Photo ID may also be checked as part of the standard ticketing policy.
The club has transitioned to digital ticketing for the 2026/27 season. Supporters are strongly advised to download their digital tickets before arriving at the stadium. Free WiFi will be available at the turnstiles to facilitate access to digital tickets. An additional Digital Coffee Morning session was scheduled for Saturday, 15th August, from 10am to 2pm in the Jimmy McIlroy Lounge to assist with this transition.
To enhance the matchday experience, a 25% discount on food and drink will be offered in the concourse between 2pm and 3pm. The Fan Zone will be open before the game, from 1pm to 3:30pm. Cashless payment methods will be exclusively accepted for food and beverages on all concourses.
Traffic and Conduct Guidelines
On matchdays, Harry Potts Way and Yorkshire Street can experience congestion. Harry Potts Way will be closed to traffic at 2pm. Supporters are encouraged to be considerate when parking on residential roads around Turf Moor. The club recently issued a statement in collaboration with Lancashire County Council regarding a proposed matchday traffic order around the stadium.
The safety of all participants is a priority. The club reminds supporters that entering the playing area at any time is a criminal offence and can result in a criminal record and stadium bans. Throwing items or missiles onto the pitch is also against ground regulations and will lead to severe banning orders from the club.
Burnley Football Club maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards hate speech and discrimination. Supporters who witness or experience discriminatory behaviour or offensive chanting are urged to report it urgently by texting ‘REPORT’ to 80800, providing seat details and a description of the incident, or by approaching a steward or using the Kick it Out app. Those found responsible for offensive chanting may face ejection from the stadium and arrest.
The matchday programme, Turf, will be available in print from the Clarets Store or from programme sellers around the stadium. The Clarets Store will be open from 10am until 4pm, and the Ticket Office will operate from 10am until 4:30pm on Sunday.
