The 2026 Belfast City Marathon, scheduled for May 3, will introduce a captivating team relay format that features five distinct legs, each presenting its own distance challenge. This year’s marathon is set against the backdrop of iconic sites like Belfast City Hall and the lush greenery of Ormeau Park.
In this innovative setup, participants can tackle the full marathon distance of 26.2 miles by forming teams to complete various segments. The first leg starts at Stormont Estate, covering 4.2 miles to Montgomery Road. The second leg stretches 6.8 miles from Montgomery Road to Boucher Road, followed by a 4.5-mile segment to Falls Road.
The fourth leg takes runners from Falls Road to Duncairn Gardens over a distance of 5 miles, culminating in the final push of 5.7 miles from Duncairn Gardens to Ormeau Park. Each leg offers a unique experience, showcasing different facets of Belfast’s vibrant landscape.
This year’s event is expected to draw thousands of participants, eager to embrace the camaraderie and competition that a team relay fosters. A shuttle bus service will operate from Annadale Embankment to the relay changeover points between 8:00am and 10:00am, ensuring smooth transitions for teams.
